There's no place like home for The South Johnston Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against East Wake on Monday as South Johnston made off with a 31-8 victory. For South Johnston, this counts as revenge for the 28-13 loss East Wake walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
South Johnston's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Adams, who threw for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes. Kalib Brown also helped out with an impressive 91 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was South Johnston's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kelvin Fitts and Jaekob Robinson who racked up four sacks between them.
South Johnston's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for East Wake, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Johnston will take on West Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Wake, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Smithfield-Selma at 7:00 p.m. Smithfield-Selma will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
