With a playoff game on the line, the Southridge Spartans rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against Hialeah as Southridge made off with a 48-23 victory. Considering Southridge has won four matches by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Southridge found their leader in underclassman James Perrone, who threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. Perrone is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Jhakari Johnson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Southridge's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hialeah, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Southridge will head out on the road to face off against Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Homestead is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games. Hialeah does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
