Baseball Recap: Oakridge Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Oakridge made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Trinity Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Oakridge put the hurt on Trinity Valley with a sharp 13-3 victory on Saturday. Considering the Owls have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Piero Figueroa and Asher Shimek did most of the damage at the plate: Figueroa went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Shimek scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Shimek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Worthington, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Oakridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Trinity Valley dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Oakridge will square off against rival St. Andrew's at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Trinity Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Cistercian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
