Collinwood is 2-8 against the Wildcats since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Collinwood Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wayne County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Collinwood comes in on four and the Wildcats on five.
Collinwood only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 45-point they dealt the Lions on Friday. Collinwood simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 61-16 on the road. That looming 61-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Collinwood yet this season.
Meanwhile, Wayne County stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Perry County 49-29. Given Wayne County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Vikings are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Collinwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Wayne County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Collinwood was dealt a bruising 70-38 defeat at the hands of the Wildcats in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Collinwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
