Baseball Recap: Howe Comes Up Short

Howe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bells Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 last Tuesday.

Anthony Lowder put in work no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Lowder wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Garren Lankford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Gavin Rodgers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Howe's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bells, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Howe has already played their next matchup (against Pottsboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bells, they have already played their next contest, a 9-3 victory against Whitewright on the 22nd.
