After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Phoebus, The Menchville Monarchs were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They walked away with a 39-28 victory over Denbigh. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Menchville's zero-point performance the matchup before.
Menchville can attribute much of their success to Amir Harrison, who rushed for 83 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Menchville also got help from Messiah Jones who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.
Menchville's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points per game. As for Denbigh, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Menchville will take on Kecoughtan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kecoughtan and Menchville are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Denbigh, they will head out on the road to face off against Phoebus at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Phoebus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Denbigh likes a good challenge.
