Mary Star of the Sea got a massive performance out of Amaree Arellano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs Arellano has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ruby Rico, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Mary Star of the Sea hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Serra struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Bishop Montgomery entered their tilt with St. Monica on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Mariners 9-1. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Macey Kim made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Forbess, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Grace Garciaparra was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Bishop Montgomery pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Mary Star of the Sea, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Mary Star of the Sea came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop Montgomery in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will Mary Star of the Sea repeat their success, or does Bishop Montgomery has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
