After two games on the road, St. John is heading back home. They will take on the Charleston Math & Science Riptide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
St. John's suffered their biggest loss since December 22, 2023 on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Burke, falling 60-28. St. John's has not had much luck with Burke recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, Charleston Math & Science's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-36 walloping at the hands of Military Magnet Academy. Charleston Math & Science found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up ten fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Zion King, who scored eight points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Simmons, who scored nine points.
St. John's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Charleston Math & Science, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
St. John's was able to grind out a solid victory over Charleston Math & Science in their previous matchup on January 10th, winning 45-38. Does St. John's have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charleston Math & Science turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
