Meanwhile, Highland waltzed into their matchup two weeks ago with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Chargers. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Zach Armstrong made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Moore, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Highland pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Bath County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bath County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bath County suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to Highland when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
