The Rochester Rockets pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sterling. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rochester in their matchups with Sterling: they've now lost five in a row.
Rochester's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Cox, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cox pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Beal, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Rochester has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Sterling, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Rochester won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Taylorville at 9:00 a.m. on December 28, 2023. Taylorville comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Sterling won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Marion at 10:30 a.m. on December 28, 2023. Marion knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Sterling likes a good challenge.
