Softball Recap: Northridge Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Grant

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northridge Academy). They never let the Grant Lancers get on the board and left with a 30-0 win on Monday. The Pumas haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Alondra Laguna and Val Montes were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Laguna struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Montes tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Laguna has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Laguna got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases, while Montes got on base in four of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Jackie Nettles was incredible, firing off three home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high. Jessica Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Northridge Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .851. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northridge Academy's record now sits at 11-3. As for Grant, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Northridge Academy will square off against Panorama at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pythons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 25.33 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grant, they will challenge Canoga Park at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
