Seth Vincent made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Chris Tesgle was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Dixon is undefeated when Tesgle posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Lincoln Everynham also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
West Carteret hit White Oak with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Patriots, falling 11-1.
White Oak saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Brandt, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Dixon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for White Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
White Oak's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Dixon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for White Oak, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Dixon keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
Everything went Dixon's way against White Oak in their previous meeting on April 4th, as Dixon made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
