It was a good run, but the Lee Volunteers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Churchill by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Lee has suffered yet this season.
Rosanelly Pastrano and Debi Hernandez certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Pastrano scored 22 points along with two steals, while Hernandez scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Hernandez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Lilah Yanover, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Lee's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Churchill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.
Lee on the road again on Tuesday and play against SA Roosevelt at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. SA Roosevelt has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18. As for Churchill, they will square off against Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 597th, while Churchill is ranked 174th).
