Hanahan is 0-6 against North Charleston since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hanahan Hawks will host the North Charleston Cougars at 8:30 p.m.
Hanahan is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were dealt a 76-35 loss at the hands of Georgetown. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 66th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Justin Maduro, who posted three points and six rebounds. Tripp Gallus was another key player, putting up four points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Charleston). They claimed a resounding 90-52 win over Military Magnet Academy. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 21 points or more this season.
North Charleston's win came from a few key players Hanahan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Marcus Simmons, who had 12 points. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Richard Hazel III was another key player, posting nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
North Charleston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive contests.
North Charleston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Hanahan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hanahan has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Charleston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hanahan was dealt a bruising 73-43 loss at the hands of North Charleston in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Will Hanahan have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
