A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cypress Lake Panthers face off against Clewiston Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Cypress Lake came up short against IMG Academy Gold on Friday, falling 7-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cypress Lake got a good showing from Eduardo Rosales, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Cypress Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Skaggs, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Jack Peterson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Clewiston got themselves on the board against Pahokee on Monday, but Pahokee never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 16-0 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Kaden Langston looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on William Bussott, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Daniel Milian was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Clewiston's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cypress Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cypress Lake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clewiston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Cypress Lake's way against Clewiston when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Cypress Lake made off with an 8-1 victory. Does Cypress Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clewiston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
