The Columbus Grove Bulldogs entered their tilt with the Black River Pirates with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Columbus Grove took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 34-6 victory over Black River. Considering Columbus Grove has won six games by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Columbus Grove was led to victory by Trenton Barraza and Landon Best. Barraza gained 142 total yards and two touchdowns, while Best rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Barraza hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games.
Columbus Grove's win was their 13th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Bluffton and 9-2 Liberty-Benton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55% over those games). As for Black River, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Columbus Grove has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Carey at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Carey is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games. Black River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
