The Moorpark Musketeers are taking a road trip to challenge the Valencia Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Moorpark is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Moorpark got the win against Santa Barbara by a conclusive 24-1.
Kiley Finnerty made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, Sydney Burckhard and Rylie Cregut did most of the damage at the plate: Burckhard went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI, while Cregut went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave Burckhard a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was Jodianne Buckley, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Moorpark always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Barbara only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Valencia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Buena on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Carly Kearns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.
Valencia pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Moorpark, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both Moorpark and Valencia just can't seem to miss. Moorpark has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Valencia struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
