Softball Recap: Ellet Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Ellet had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They never let the East Dragons get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-2 back in March.

Addison Lipply was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Lipply was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carmen Allen was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Avery Simmons was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Ellet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .410 or higher in four consecutive games.

Ellet pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellet will host Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orangemen 3.4, the Blue Devils 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for East, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
