Morning Star Academy fell 33-26 to Rivermont Collegiate on Thursday. Morning Star Academy has not had much luck with Rivermont Collegiate recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Morning Star Academy still got an impressive performance from Gavin Trotter, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Trotter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Axtman, who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Eamon Matlock, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals for Rivermont Collegiate. Soulaymane El Jerari was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Morning Star Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Rivermont Collegiate, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morning Star Academy will take on Tri-State Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-State Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for Rivermont Collegiate, they will head out on the road to face off against East Moline Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. East Moline Christian has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
