Volleyball Recap: Kearney Takes a Loss

Kearney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks. If the Bearcats were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Silver Hawks when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kearney started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-13.

Despite the loss, Kearney still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Bauer, who had 18 digs. Bauer is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Lincoln Southwest was led to victory by Taryn Weigel and Piper Bellamy. Weigel had 17 digs and two aces, while Bellamy had six digs and four aces. Those 17 digs gave Weigel a new career-high.

Kearney's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lincoln Southwest, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Kearney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Fremont on the 9th. As for Lincoln Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Lincoln Northeast on the 8th.
