The Wheeler Eagles lost against the Thrasher Rebels back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Wheeler took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thrasher. Wheeler has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Wheeler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebekah Mason, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate Beckham, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Wheeler has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Thrasher, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
Wheeler will head out on the road to take on Baldwyn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Baldwyn's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Wheeler has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Thrasher, Thrasher and Vardaman will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
