Woodland's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Wagener-Salley War Eagles as they made off with a 15-1 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 14 runs or more this season.
Corinne Westbury was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Jordan Mccarthy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sara Grace Milligan, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Woodland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wagener-Salley only posted an OBP of .300.
Woodland's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Wagener-Salley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodland will face off against Timberland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
