After flying high against the Pueblo Warriors last Thursday, the Salpointe Catholic Lancers came back down to earth. Salpointe Catholic took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cienega. It was the first time this season that Salpointe Catholic let down their fans at home.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Bobby Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Salpointe Catholic's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-7. As for Cienega, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Salpointe Catholic will be playing at home against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cienega, they will head out on the road to take on Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
