The KIPP Austin Collegiate Cardinals typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Valor North Austin Lions proved too difficult a challenge. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 31-30 victory over the Cardinals. Winning may never get old, but Valor North Austin sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abigail Perez, who scored six points along with four steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gisselle Yanez, who scored four points along with four steals.
Valor North Austin's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for KIPP Austin Collegiate, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-9.
Valor North Austin will head out on the road to face off against the Archers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for KIPP Austin Collegiate, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. IDEA Rundberg is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
