The Amelia Academy Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amelia Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Amelia Academy came up short against Tidewater Academy and fell 38-30.
The losing side was boosted by Isabella Arbitelle, who scored 21 points along with six steals and two blocks. That was a full 70% of Amelia Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-29 to Grace Christian School.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Charlie Potter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hickey, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Amelia Academy dropped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's record is now 9-13.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Amelia Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Amelia Academy might still be hurting after the 46-26 loss they got from Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot when the teams last played back in January. Can Amelia Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
