High school sports programs with the most consecutive state championships

The 2024-25 high school sports season will feature four schools – Carmel (Ind.), Bolles (Jacksonville, Fla.), St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Mount Anthony (Bennington, Vt.) – that will try to extend state championship win streaks more than three decades in the making.

The Carmel girls swimming team has the longest active streak at 38 years in a row. The Greyhounds are seven years away from tying the nation's all-time longest state championship win streak of 45 years by the Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.) boys and girls swim team from 1974 to 2018.

Bolles, meanwhile, has a pair of programs with long streaks. The boys swimming team has won 36 state championships in a row while the girls swimming team has won 34 in a row.

The St. Xavier boys swimming teams is tied with the Bolles boys swimming team at 36 in a row while the Mount Anthony boys wrestling team is one behind with 35 straight state titles.

Those five teams head a list MaxPreps has compiled that includes over 225 schools that have won 10 or more consecutive state championships. The list was compiled using information from state associations and the NFHS record book.

Punahou (Honolulu, Hawaii) has nine teams on the list, topped by the boys swimming team that won 29 state championships in a row from 1958-86. Most consecutive state championships
