Olivia Laymance was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Laymance was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Laymance wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Baylee Chadwick, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Caroline Foster was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jellico can bid farewell to their 13-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They blew past Austin-East 19-1.
Like Coalfield, Jellico also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Duncan. She struck out seven batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs.
