Great Falls has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lewisville Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Great Falls suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 back in December of 2023. They were the victim of a rough 40-20 loss at the hands of Cambridge Academy. While losing is never fun, Great Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Cambridge Academy is ranked 102nd).
Meanwhile, Lewisville fought the good fight in their overtime game against McBee on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. Lewisville has struggled against McBee recently, as their match on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mariah Wallace, who scored 16 points along with five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Murrell, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds.
Great Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Lewisville, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3.
Great Falls came up short against Lewisville in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 34-24. Can Great Falls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
