The Hartsville Red Foxes will head out on the road to square off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hartsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.
Hartsville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Gilbert get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Allie Bailey's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.
At the plate, Carter Shumate and Myah Harvey did most of the damage at the plate: Shumate went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Harvey got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaysha McCullough, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Falcons. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 games by seven runs or more this season.
Peyton Hendrix made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kaylan Boudreau was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Aspen Boulware, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
Gray Collegiate Academy's win was their 33rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hartsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hartsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Gray Collegiate Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .521. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
