Cameron Southern tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Garrett Blankenship was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeb Taylor, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, North Augusta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 5-0 to Gilbert. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2017, but that streak is no more.
Gray Collegiate Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for North Augusta, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
North Augusta's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Gray Collegiate Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for North Augusta, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Gray Collegiate Academy keep running through batters, or will North Augusta buck the trend?
