Tekamah-Herman had lost 17 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-14 to make it 18. They fell just short of the Omaha North Vikings by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 18, 2024.
Spencer Pagels was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Miller, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Omaha North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.
On Omaha North's side, Colin Kinman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Kinman also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Omaha North is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Kinman was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Ethan Hayes looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Nate French was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chance Kinman, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Tekamah-Herman and Omaha North will both be playing Bryan the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Bears on Monday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
