Basketball Recap: Mead Hall Episcopal School Takes a Loss

Mead Hall Episcopal School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holly Hill Academy Raiders. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Mead Hall Episcopal School still got an impressive performance from Braylon Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 53.8% of Mead Hall Episcopal School's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Walker Weidenman, who scored ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Mead Hall Episcopal School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Jody Gillam continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holly Hill Academy, going 15 of 29 on his way to 40 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Gillam is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Mason Connor was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Mead Hall Episcopal School's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Holly Hill Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Mead Hall Episcopal School didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-42 defeat against Jefferson Davis Academy on the 4th. Holly Hill Academy has also already played their next game, a 67-49 loss against Curtis Baptist on the 4th.
