It was a good run, but the Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 58-47 to McCormick. While losing is never fun, Calhoun Falls Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Chiefs are ranked 97th).
McCormick found their leader in underclassman Terrence Cartledge, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cartledge has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Markese Stevens, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Calhoun Falls Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9. As for McCormick, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun Falls Charter's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Ware Shoals focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. As for McCormick, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Silver Bluff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday.
