The Liberty Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Freedom 57-29 on the road. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Freedom is ranked 502nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Shyanne Smith, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Perea, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Freedom, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Antioch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Antioch is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Freedom, they will be playing at home against Pittsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pittsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
