The St. John's Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 50-26 loss at the hands of Burke. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John's in their matchups with Burke: they've now lost eight in a row.
Terry Jenkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Burke, scoring 14 points along with six blocks and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jenkins has scored at least 25% of Burke's points. Sam Mattison was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
St. John's has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Burke, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
St. John's will face off against Dillon Christian at 7:20 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Dillon Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday. As for Burke, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Palmetto Scholars Academy at 7:30 p.m.
