The Shadow Ridge Stallions will face off against the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Shadow Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Skyline 28-13 on October 7th. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Shadow Ridge's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Peyton Bills, who rushed for 130 yards and one score on only ten carries, and Milayna Turner, who rushed for 160 yards on only eight carries. Turner's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shadow Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 337 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Another reason for the win was Shadow Ridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Scarlet Vasquez. Another thorn in Skyline's side was Kylie Hammer, who made 12 total tackles and defended seven passes.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge faced Pinnacle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions strolled past the Pioneers with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. Considering the Mountain Lions' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Mountain Ridge found their leader in sophomore Amiaya Tice, who rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 232 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 148 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Tice. Another player making a difference was Cameron Mailloux, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one score.
Mountain Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tahlia Hempen, Mailloux, Anahlee Sifuentes, and Emily Scott picked up one apiece. Mailloux got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win made it two in a row for Shadow Ridge and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Shadow Ridge was taken down by Mountain Ridge 27-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mailloux, who rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 102 yards and a pair of TDs.
