Ben Weiss looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Markus Chandler was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Liam Cronican also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Omaha Westside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matchups.
Creighton Prep had taken Papillion-LaVista down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Junior Jays fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 2-1. The Junior Jays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Omaha Westside has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Creighton Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
