The East Providence Townies are taking a road trip to  take on the Cranston East Thunderbolts  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. East Providence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5  runs per game  this season, so Cranston East's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
East Providence is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Rhode Island's top teams: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked second  at the time (East Providence was ranked third). The Townies fell  8-5 to the Hawks on Thursday. The Townies have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Cranston East fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Cranston West  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost  17-6 to the Falcons. On the bright side, the six- run  performance marked the Thunderbolts' highest-scoring  game to date.
 Damien Wholey was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  struck out seven batters over  5.1 innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off only  two  hits.
 At the plate,  Jeu Leon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with one  run and one  double. He also  got a  hit, marking his first of the season.
 The  defeat was their first  on the road , dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Cranston East,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-6.
 East Providence came out on top in a nail-biter against Cranston East in their previous matchup  back in May of 2023, sneaking past  5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Townies since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
