Shelby County had lost six games at home, but after bumping their record up to 6-13  on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Spencer County Bears 14-8. This was payback for the Rockets, who suffered  a  12-2  loss the last time these two teams met.

 Kaylee Cox was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out eight batters over  5.2 innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 4-for-5 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI.
 Cox wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Kendall Carnes, who  went 2-for-4 with two  stolen bases, three  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  two  stolen bases gave  Carnes a new career-high. Another  was  Madison Clark, who  went 1-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  double.
As for Spencer County, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record  this season. As for they,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 9-9.
 On Spencer County's side,  Kaylen Newton led a balanced group of hitters,  going 3-for-4 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Brooklyn Hunt, who  went 1-for-2 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.
 Coming up, Shelby County will head out on the road to  take on  Lexington Christian  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Spencer County, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Jeffersontown  at 6:00  p.m.
