Clyde is 2-8 against Sandusky since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clyde Fliers will be home for the holidays to greet the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 7:30 p.m. Clyde will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while Sandusky is ranked 33rd).
Last Friday, Clyde came up short against Norwalk and fell 58-46. Clyde has not had much luck with Norwalk recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brayden Olson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. He scored a full 41.3% of Clyde's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kam Shortridge was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Clyde struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Sandusky is still undefeated this season after their match against Perkins on Saturday, but Perkins came as close as anyone has to beating them. It was close, but Sandusky ultimately received the gift of a 77-75 win from a begrudging Blue Streakssquad. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Amir Aaron, who scored 30 points along with five steals. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jason Henlon, who scored 18 points.
Clyde's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Sandusky, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Clyde have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.8 threes per game. It's a different story for Sandusky, though, as they've been averaging only 4.8 threes per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Clyde might still be hurting after the 87-67 loss they got from Sandusky when the teams last played back in January. Can Clyde avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
