MacKenzie Hady spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jenna Lubash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Bowe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Eastwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maumee only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, Swanton scored first but ultimately less than Elmwood in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 4-3.
Alexa Faber was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Faber was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Faber wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carli LaGrange, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Eastwood's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Swanton, they now have a losing record of 13-14.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eastwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Swanton struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eastwood's way against Swanton in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, as Eastwood made off with a 14-0 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
