The Fleming Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 61-25 loss at the hands of Akron. Fleming was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was David Betley, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Fleming struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Akron posted 17 assists.
Akron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anderson Filla led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Filla is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Demers, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Fleming's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Akron, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Fleming will be playing in front of their home fans against Weldon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Weldon Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday. As for Akron, they will head out on the road to square off against Perkins County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perkins County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Akron surely won't give up without a fight.
