Two dominant backs in Andrew Camarillo and Kevin Moultrie are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Orosi Cardinals will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Hoover Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Orosi has played have been within five points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Even though Orange Cove scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Orosi still came out on top. Orosi won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Orange Cove 35-34. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Orosi was the better team in the second half.
Orosi's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camarillo, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 70 receiving yards. Camarillo was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Lopez, who threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 38 points the game before, Hoover were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were beaten by McLane 33-3. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Orosi's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Hoover, their loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-7.
