Archbishop McCarthy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Stoneman Douglas hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Stoneman Douglas' pitchers stepped up to hand Flanagan an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gio Rojas made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Daniel Tartaglia looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, Stoneman Douglas let Drew Freeman and Nick Diaz run wild. Freeman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double, while Diaz scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Diaz a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Rizzo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy posted their closest win since May 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Deerfield Beach 4-2.
Archbishop McCarthy also got a great performance from Jose Torres as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Torres has become a key player for Archbishop McCarthy: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miguel Delgado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Danny Machado was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Archbishop McCarthy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
