Two dominant guards in Nick Madsen and Jason Castro are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The GV Christian Guardians's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Laughlin Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Laughlin took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on GV Christian, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, GV Christian made off with a 48-47 win over Awaken Christian.
Deomani Loveland was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Madsen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Laughlin pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-55 to White Pine. Laughlin has struggled against White Pine recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
GV Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Laughlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
GV Christian strolled past Laughlin in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 by a score of 65-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Laughlin's Treshaune Souder, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for GV Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
