Football Recap: Hamshire-Fannett Beats Vidor for Their Third Straight Win

Hamshire-Fannett put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Vidor Pirates with a sharp 49-28 win. That's more bragging rights for the Longhorns, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hamshire-Fannett found their leader in sophomore Dwayne Long, who picked up 85 receiving yards and two TDs. Pierce Pirtle was another key player, gaining 112 total yards and a touchdown.

Hamshire-Fannett was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 252 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Hamshire-Fannett didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jonathan Stanley and Maliki Adams.

Hamshire-Fannett's record now sits at 3-0. As for Vidor, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Hamshire-Fannett will be playing at home against Almeta Crawford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Vidor, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season.
