The Hedgesville Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Keyser Golden Tornado at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hedgesville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
Hedgesville struggled with assists on Thursday (Martinsburg had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hedgesville was the victim of a tough 49-24 defeat at the hands of Martinsburg. Hedgesville has not had much luck with Martinsburg recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Hedgesville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylin Cantley, who scored eight points, and Gracie Brown who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Keyser had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They snuck past Hampshire with a 42-38 victory.
Hedgesville has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Keyser, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Hedgesville was taken down by Keyser 54-16 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hedgesville was down 27-4.
