Porter gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Galena Park Yellowjackets as they made off with a 44-20 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 743rd).

Despite the loss, Galena Park still got an impressive performance from Cary Clay, who rushed for 40 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Porter will face off against Pasadena Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Galena Park, they will take on Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
