Baseball Recap: Branchville Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Branchville never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Military Magnet Academy Eagles with a sharp 22-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Steedly looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Branchville is 2-1 when Steedly allows two or fewer hits, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Branchville let Mason McCormack and Luke Shaw run wild. McCormack went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Shaw went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Shaw a new career-high. Seth Shaw was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Branchville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Branchville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Military Magnet Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Branchville will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bamberg-Ehrhardt at 6:00 p.m. As for Military Magnet Academy, they will head out to challenge St. John's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
