Cade Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.
In other batting news, Jacob Sells was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Titus Bisbee was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cookeville). They blew past Lebanon 11-1 on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Cavaliers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Zolton Knight tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on KJ Anderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tyler Smith, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Stone Memorial pushed their record up to 4-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cookeville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Stone Memorial suffered a grim 21-5 defeat to Cookeville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Stone Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
